Wins Over Kurukshetra
Mr. Naveen Jindal, Executive Vice -Chairman
and Managing Director of Jindal Steel and Power Ltd, (JSPL) one
of the leading luminaries of the strong JINDAL ORGANISATION has
won the Lok Sabha seat from Kurukshetra Constituency, Haryana
for the Indian National Congress.
Mr. Naveen Jindal is the only industrialist
who has contested and won the Lok Sabha elections at a very
young age. The victory was an achievement because Mr. Jindal, a
newcomer to politics was fighting the electoral battle against
Mr. Abhay Chautala - son of Shri Om Prakash Chautala (then
Haryana's Chief Minister) . Mr. Jindal beat Abhay Chautala by an
astounding margin of 160,190 votes.
A true patriot at heart - he, single-handedly
took up the cause of restoring in Indians a national pride,
choosing the Tricolour as his symbol. As a result of his decade
long struggle, the Honble Supreme Court in a historic
judgment on 23rd January 2004 held that the right to fly the
National Flag freely, with respect and dignity is a Fundamental
Right. His views on the display of the National Flag by the
citizens of India have been pioneering and trail blazing. He
strongly felt that the restrictive clause of the Prevention of
Insults to National Honour Act, 1971, be amended. He once again
took up the matter with the government for allowing the wearing
of the Tiranga on the dresses in a respectful manner. He raised
this issue in the Parliamentary Standing Committee, Ministry of
Home Affairs, and with the Government of India, stating that the
display of National Flag on sports gear, T-shirts and other
clothing enhances respect for the flag and does not in any way
disrespect it. With the passing of the Prevention of Insults to
National Honor (Amendment) bill unanimously by the Parliament,
in the winter session of 2005, now under the aegis of the law
every citizen, can legitimately wear, for the first time, the
National Flag on clothes or caps with the tricolor printed on
them in a respectful manner.
Its same zest for the Nation, which is
his propelling force towards Politics. Education, population
stabilisation and weeding out corruption from public life are
the key political agendas he is keen to implement. As a Lok
Sabha MP, from Kurukshetra, he plans to improve the basic
amenities and educational facilities of his constituents and he
also plans to build Kurukshetra as a major historical, religious
and spiritual tourist destination. More importantly he has with
him his clean, efficient corporate fundamentals to chart out a
developmental plan for his constituency and the larger Nation.
In Mr. Jindals own words-I want
to incorporate the best practice of business management in
politics. Its all about managing resources, managing
people and wiping out corruption. He draws a lot of
inspiration & courage from his revered father, Late Shri O P
Jindal and Smt. Sonia Gandhi, President, Indian National
Congress.
Mr Jindal says his main reason to join
politics is to reach more and more people to usher in better
times. He says that the task ahead is tough and arduous. I
would like to dedicate my life for the betterment of our people.
There are many challenges, but I will definitely overcome them
as I am used to bigger challenges in life.
Being a key player of the Young Brigade of
Congress - Mr. Jindal is all set to ride the tide of successful
governance.
